Beginnings of our school´s history date back to September 1st, 1958. On that very day the Eleven-year school in Dubová Street was opened in a completely new building, the construction of which was finished in the first half of the year 1958. The school department of Bratislava was looking for the new staff during the spring season, because it was necessary to not only finish the construction, but also to complete the modern equipment of the building,, to provide the right amount of students and to engage skilled teachers until the new school year started. Rudolf Štefanec, former school department employee, was charged with these tasks and appointed the headmaster of the school. He was an experienced professional man, excellent teacher and manager with a special attitude to science and physical education. The preparatory work set high technical as well as pedagogical requirements and therefore Mr. Štefanec asked Mr. Pavol Polóny Sr for help. They have been working together and Mr. Polóny had experience from the construction of the SNP students dormitory in Horský park, as well as from finishing and organizing of the SAV Scientists Home in Smolenice. Mr. Peter Ondrejček , an experienced teacher and cultural worker, was appointed the vice-headmaster, responsible for the junior school. Overall preparations for school opening consisted of classroom arranging, and providing the school with modern school equipment. A gymnasium, a library and a school canteen were established, and the surroundings were kept up.
